Free Tax Prep for 2024 Has Ended

The Mills42 Team once again worked through VITA to prepare tax returns at no charge. Over the last several years, we saved residents in our community well over $25,000 in tax preparation fees.

We are currently not accepting any more appointments, but we look forward to assisting members with their tax preparations next year and continuing to support our community.

Free Tax Prep for 2024 Returns Has Begun

The Mills42 Team will once again be working through VITA to prepare tax returns at no charge. Over the last several years, we’ve saved residents in our community well over $25,000 in tax preparation fees.

We are currently scheduling appointments for Mills42 FCU members only. Appointments are available between January 27th through March 28th.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We will only prepare 2024 returns with an annual income of $67,000 or less. We do not itemize.

We file the federal return and Massachusetts state return. We only prepare Massachusetts state returns (no out of state returns). We do not do Homeowners, 1099 MISC or 1099 NEC Small business/Self-Employment Income (Examples: Avon, Uber, Amazon or Lyft, etc.).

We do not accept 1099C (cancellation of debt), 1099K (stock dividends), 1040NR-EZ (foreign student) or HSA Forms.

When you drop off your information, your return will be available within the following 7-10 days. We'll call you once it is complete.

Tax Filing Checklist and Intake Form must be filled out completely, or else your filing could be delayed.

Once your appointment has been scheduled, you can find intake forms here:

    Please bring the completed Intake Interview and Quality Review Sheet, plus Consent Form, to your appointment along with all of the following documents that are applicable to your situation:
    • Physical original Social Security card (not just the number)
    • Photo identification
    • Physical original Social Security card (not just the number) for all of your dependents
    • Proof of income: W2’s, 1099-G (Unemployment), SSA-1099, 1099INT, 1099DIV
    • Proof of childcare
    • Proof of healthcare (2 forms—State: 1099HC and Federal: 1095A, B or C)
    • Proof of Student Loan interest paid
    • Any other tax forms you’ve received
