We understand the impact the coronavirus (COVID-19) health emergency is having on our members and your families. Likely, your fears are not only about the health of you and your family, but also about your finances—especially if you are unable to work or have had your hours cut during this crisis.


The IRS has released a new tool for finding out the status of your stimulus check.

Follow the prompts and you will be notified of the status of your payment. Users may also enter their bank account information if it is not yet on file.


    To help relieve your financial worries, we will be doing the following:

    • Upon a member’s request, we are offering up to two months of payments to be deferred on all loans—including vehicle, personal and home equity loans, VISA® Credit Card payments and first mortgages—without any processing fees1.
    • We are also making short-term, small-dollar loans available for members and their families1.

Make sure you stay financially safe.

Trying to make smart decisions and cope financially during this pandemic can be extremely frustrating. There is so much information out there—news feeds, social media, blogs, TV—seems that everyone has advice and guidance. To add to the confusion, there are as many scammers out there as there are legitimate sources. So, where do you turn?

    We say, look no further than your credit union. We’ve combed through dozens of articles and are featuring two of the best ones we’ve found:

    • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is a government agency created to protect consumers from unfair, deceptive or abusive financial practices. Their blog post, Protect yourself financially from the impact of the coronavirus,” is a practical guide organized into topics that are the most pressing and stressful ones most of us are dealing with right now.
    • Money Management International is a non-profit organization dedicated to consumer financial education. Their Budget Guides resource offers solutions to reduce your costs and create a balanced budget.

Finally, stay safe from fraud and identity theft.

First, beware of any unsolicited emails offering updates on COVID-19. These are usually scam emails that are intended to steal your personal information when you click on links and/or open attachments. Second, we want to remind you that Mills42 FCU will never send you an unsecured email or text or call you and ask for personal information, like your birth date, PINs, account numbers or Social Security number.
